Partner : AMSS, ARGA, CITRACO and CLUEDUCA

Project funding source: Embassy of the United Kingdom

Country: Mali

Funding period:  December 2020-March 2021

As part of the support and accompaniment for the establishment of conflict prevention and management mechanisms in the 7 municipalities benefiting from PECIC Phase II, the consortium through the lead (AMSS & ARGA) carried out activities training on the one hand to establish an assessment of endogenous mechanisms through SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats), and on the other hand to strengthen the synergy of action with communities while adopting coordination mechanisms to offer the effectiveness and efficiency of local actors.

In order to support the development and implementation of plans to support mechanisms for the prevention and peaceful management of conflicts in the 7 target communes of PECIC Phase II, the lead (AMSS and ARGA-Mali) facilitated sessions training to get the mechanisms to support the development and implementation of their support plans, but also and above all to help these mechanisms to develop their reliable action plans for prevention and peaceful management that benefit from funding from the PECIC Project. Indeed, in this activity, each municipality must look at 2 distinct conflicts to be resolved through their reconciliation team.

In addition, it should be noted that the gender policy is always applied at all stages of the implementation of the PECIC project, as at the level of all the other projects piloted by the AMSS. In the implementation of activities, the emphasis is always on the involvement and participation of women and girls in decision-making bodies at the municipal level.

Thus, among the activities carried out that better meet the needs of women, we note:

  • Supporting women in the implementation of their conflict prevention and resolution activities

  • Advocacy at the level of the municipal authorities for the integration of the needs of the people (the elderly, women and young girls) in the development plans at the level of the municipalities.

Indeed, the endogenous mechanisms put in place work closely with the municipal authorities and carry out awareness-raising, prevention and conflict resolution activities at the level of the municipalities with them. This is to say that at the level of the 7 target municipalities, the municipal and traditional authorities are involved in all activities. They give their assessments on the progress of activities.
